From the sideline. For the sideline.

More of the game. Less paperwork.

STATIQ began with a simple question: Does recording basketball statistics really have to be this difficult?

STAT / IQ

Statistics meets basketball IQ.

STATIQ takes its name from “Stat(ical) IQ”. To us, that means making the numbers from a game understandable and useful. Beyond counting points, it is about seeing what happened, spotting patterns and learning for the next game.

2004

An idea between the paper sheets.

Our story starts in Sweden. Our product owner was a young basketball player who also refereed, coached and worked at the scorer’s table. He recorded statistics for the league team, too. Two people used paper and a third used a laptop. Keeping up was still a challenge.

There had to be an easier way. In 2004, he began building an Excel model, using formulas to replace at least some of the paperwork. It was the first step towards what would eventually become STATIQ.

Sweden → Norway

A pause. Not the end.

When he moved to Norway, the project was put aside. Perhaps that was the end of it. But basketball has a way of finding you again. When the sport returned to his everyday life, so did the idea. The need for simpler scoring had never gone away.

This time, we would take it further together.

2026

Four people. One shared ambition.

Today, we are a team of four. Two of us could code, and we knew how we wanted the system to work. Turning that idea into a good experience still took more than we expected.

AI became another tool in our work. We asked questions, tried solutions, tested and refined. It helped us move forward, while our basketball experience and our own judgement continued to guide the product.

You should be following the game, not fighting the tool.
STATIQ / TODAY

Built for the people who show up.

We are proud of what STATIQ has become: an approachable statistics system for the people who make games possible. Parents, coaches and scorers deserve a workflow they can understand, guidance along the way and a way to correct supported entries when something goes wrong.

On iPhone, iPad or in a browser, the aim is the same: less stress on the sideline and more value from the numbers afterwards. We keep making small, practical improvements, one experience and one game at a time.
